Career-Education Initiative Developing the Workforce of the Future
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), presenting sponsor Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE), and Destination ImagiNation® (DI) are working together to provide students a hands-on, real-world experience that will inspire them to explore and pursue careers in the construction industry.
Who:
All team members must be enrolled in high school (grades 9-12) or the equivalent in technical or vocational schools or home school.
When:
Regional Rallies take place on January 15, 2011.
Top 24 teams advance to the Championship Finals at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, from March 21-25, 2011.
Where:
Regional Rallies take place in Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Enid (OK), Milwaukee, Seattle and Toronto.
Why:
- High school teams have fun competing and solving transportation and water infrastructure Challenges.
- Teams enjoy the adventure and expand their creativity, teamwork, problem solving, project management, research and presentation skills.
- Students learn about transportation and water infrastructure issues, as well as construction careers.
- Students put engineering, design, building skills and experience to the ultimate test.
- Students develop workable solutions to infrastructure and on-the-job issues.
- Students pave the pathway for higher education with potential scholarships, prizes and internship opportunities.
- Open to all high school students – no prerequisite courses required.
- Construction Challenge looks great on a work or college resume!

Register at www.constructionchallenge.org. Registration fee is $125 per team.
Teams receive Rally materials after registration.
Teams put in 6-8 hours of research and prep prior to the January 15th Regional Rally.
