8 Regional Rallies will take place on Saturday, January 15, 2011. The top 24 teams advance to the Championship Finals at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, from March 21-25, 2011.Who is sponsoring the Construction Challenge?
The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE), and Destination ImagiNation® (DI) are working together to provide students a hands-on, real-world experience that will inspire them to explore and pursue careers in the construction industry.Why?

Who can compete?
Students enrolled in high school (grades 9-12) or the equivalent at technical or vocational schools or home school. Students form teams with 5 to 7 members and a supervising adult Team Manager who is at least 21 years old. A maximum of 50 teams compete at each Rally.Where is it being held?
The 8 Regional Rallies are being held in:
Atlanta / Chicago / Cincinnati / Dallas / Enid (Oklahoma) / Milwaukee / Seattle / Toronto
How early does my team need to register?
Registration is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Register early to ensure your team’s placement at the Regional Rally of your choice.
Do teams need to be from the same city as the Regional Rally?
No. Teams can choose which Rally they will attend. During the registration process, teams will choose the city in which they want to compete. Register early to ensure your team’s placement.
How much does it cost to participate?
$125 per team for a team of 5 to 7 students, plus an adult Team Manager (at least 21 years old).
Tell me more – what will the teams be doing at the Regional Rally?
Teams will be using their research to solve 2-3 Challenges on-site. All materials will be provided. In addition, teams will have the opportunity to explore careers with representatives of companies from various construction industries.
How do we get started?
- Go to www.constructionchallenge.org
- Click on the Registration button. This will take you to www.ShopDI.org where you can purchase one or more team registrations at $125 per team.
- Enter the registration information and click Done and you are registered!
- A Registration Packet will be sent, which includes more details about the Regional Rally, the Challenges, and forms that need to be completed.
Who can register teams?
Any institution, organization, or individual can pay the $125 and register a team.
Do I have to have the team member names when I register the team?
No. But the team members will need to fill out the registration forms soon.
Can we have more than one team per school?
Yes. You can have as many teams as your school wants and can support.
Can one adult be the Team Manager for more than one team?
No. Each team needs its own Team Manager, an adult who is 21 years or older. This adult can be a teacher, parent or community member.
Can students be on more than one team?
No.
What happens after I register my team?
After registration, the Team Manager will receive the Rally Registration packet with Rally information and forms.
How much work should my team plan on before the Regional Rally?
Teams should plan for 6-8 hours of research and prep prior to the January 15, 2011 Regional Rally.
What happens if my team wins and advances on to the Championships?
Teams advancing to the Championship in Tennessee are paired with an AEM member company, which sponsors a majority of the team’s room, meals and transportation to the Championship Finals at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas, from March 21-25, 2011.
